Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman has warned that a vote for any other party would help the Tories get into government.

Ms Harman told an audience of Labour activists and parliamentary candidates: "Any other vote other than for Labour would help the Tories get into Number 10 and I think that’s a very, very important message that we’ll be taking out. If people don’t vote, if they vote for any of the other parties, it can risk the awful prospect of David Cameron being in Number 10."

And the prospect of any more time for the Labour party and the one eyed monster is what exactly…?

Politicians like Harman are full of really foul smelling hot air and the sooner they go the better.

Darn it. I thought that it was when the public took the politicians out and hung them from the nearest tree.

Taken from the Facebook group Don’t Waste Your Vote..Spoil It!!

Encouraging people to make sure they get their voice heard in the forthcoming General Election, even if they do not have any will to vote for any of the main political parties.

If you have no idea who to vote for and can’t see past the obvious similarities in the parties, then spoil your vote!!!

This is the only way for us to convey our grievance at how the current political system is run, and how pissed off we are at how our country is being run.

We can make this change and make the entire political system ”wake up” and realise that we as a people are not going to take this bollocks any longer!!

Spoiled votes are counted in every constituency. Imagine the uproar across the country if the amount of spoiled votes exceeded the amount that the winning M.P. received!!!!
You can spoil your vote in a number of ways.
1: Put a giant cross all the way through the ballot paper.
2: Ripping up the ballot paper and then placing it in the ballot box.
In fact anything other than putting a single cross next to a candidates name will see it spoiled.

The most important thing for us to do, is to make sure we turn up on election day.

Sitting at home and not bothering plays into the hands of those who are in control, as it assumes that WE DON’T CARE WHO IS ELECTED!!

Most of us really do care about some aspects of politics, whether it be how much council tax we have to pay, how long we have to wait for an appointment at a hospital or how much tax we pay amongst other things.

These issues are affected by politics and at the moment the system is letting us down to the point where voter apathy is at it’s highest point.
The message of this group is simple : IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO VOTE FOR ANY CANDIDATE OR PARTY STANDING AT THE ELECTION, THEN SHOW YOUR ANGER BY SPOILING YOUR VOTE!!!!

You don’t even need to go out of your way on election day to spoil your vote – register for a postal vote. When the forms come through – register, send it back and they will send your ballot paper in the post. You spoil it and post it back – less effort.

With each new manifesto we hear the cry from all of the other parties “the sums don’t add up”. How can they all be so hopeless at math?

This is either a reflection of the fact that none of the politicians have any mathematical ability (the expense scandal may have proved this) or, which is more likely, none of them have a clue about the economy and how to get us out of the hole that they have dug.

On top of this you then have the smallest parties making promises and pledges about what they will do when in power, which of course will never happen, so the real question is why do they bother.

Surely if all the political parties (besides the 2 largest) grouped together and stood on a single platform they may actually achieve something. Maybe they should consider standing as “none of the above”. A result could be that the independent parties actually were able to deliver something…

Then again probably not as they are all as bad as each other.

Once again the news channels are gripped with election “news” which is killing the level of interest in politics in the general public.

All the politicians, pumped up with their own self importance are putting us off the idea of bothering to vote.

The real risk is that the politicians returned to parliament feel that they have a mandate to implement their ideas even though the majority didn’t vote for them and there is a good chance the majority didn’t vote at all.

The risk is not that we end up with low grade politicians, that is guaranteed, it is that we end up with a bunch of Muppets who screw up the economy.

Imagine getting the Labour party back, imagine getting the Welsh or Scottish issues dominating the rest of the country in the event of a hung parliament. Imagine getting the one eyed monster again.

The best thing to do is figure which politician out of the bunch is least bad and stick with them. None of the above with a twist.

The most important thing will be to save the economy from another 5 years of misuse.

Voter Power Index is an interesting site which shows you how “powerful” your vote is compared to the UK average.

Enter your postcode on the site and it will then show results for your constituency. This site plugs the idea of proportional representation and explains itself in the following way:

In the 2005 election, more than half of all voters voted against their winning MP. Their votes were simply thrown away.

In the UK, the only voters with any real power to choose the government are those who live in marginal constituencies. Less than 20% of constituencies can be considered marginal. The rest of us have little or no power to influence the outcome of the election.

In fact, statistical analysis by the nef (the new economics foundation) shows that one person in the UK does not have one vote… it’s more like 0.25 votes.

In some ultra safe constituencies the value of your vote falls to practically zero.
